Your guide to living in Dubai Sports City

  • 5 min read

Things just keep getting better in Dubai Sports City (DSC).

This mixed residential and sporting entertainment community provides a wonderful hub for sports enthusiasts, with the world-class Els Golf Club, ICC Cricket Stadium, and Athletics Track. Once complete, DSC will be centred around five key sports complexes, with stadiums, fitness facilities, training grounds and academies. There are a number of world-class training academies already up and running for rugby, cricket, swimming, soccer and golf; Butch Harmon is widely regarded as the best golf coach in the world and runs the eponymous Butch Harmon School of Golf at DSC. The future is certainly promising for this community, and it’s only a matter of time before DSC reaches its full potential.

Your living options

Residents of Dubai Sports City have the choice of living in the established and popular villa communities of Victory Heights and Gallery Villas, with a wide selection of different homes. Approximately 950 villas in Victory Heights have been beautifully planned and built around the golf course and you’ll find three-bedroom townhouses and four, five and six-bedroom independent villas. The Gallery villas are distinctive three-bedroom townhouses. There are also approximately 36 apartment buildings that are rapidly expanding and will offer studio, one, two and three-bedroom housing options. Elite Sports Residence is one of the leading groups with seven towers dotted around the community offering fully furnished accommodation. Because different developers have built the apartment buildings there’s an eclectic mix of architecture and individual facilities and amenities.

Getting around

While drivers will find it easier to get around, there are also good public transport links. Two bus routes operate from DSC into the city and a third has been rerouted to Mall of the Emirates Metro station.

Best for

The area is ideal for sports enthusiasts but families will find lovely properties here, too. Homes in Victory Heights and Gallery Villas are great for small and large families, with townhouses and villas offering between three and six bedrooms. Meanwhile, the studios and smaller apartments are ideal for single professionals and couples.

Meet the neighbours

Ehab Inidriss lives with his wife and two sons in a three-bedroom apartment in Victory Heights.

"I have to admit I love living here because of the cricket matches; Sports City has hosted some great games and there’s such a buzz around the community when there’s something big coming up. It’s a great place for children, too, because there are lots of activities you can do together; I work a lot but my son and I play golf and cricket together and it’s great to spend quality time with him and see him improve. When more shops and restaurants arrive in the area, it will be really convenient."
